Six Invitational in Paris: winning no longer pulls the crowd

Sun 28 Jun, 2026

At the Six Invitational, the most-watched team wasn’t the champion: in esports, audience attention is built all season, not won on finals day.

Start with the one metric everybody grabs first. In esports it is nearly always the same figure, propped up as a baseline or a raw count: how many people are actually watching a given event, a given activity, sometimes just a single player. So, the Six Invitational 2026. Rainbow Six Siege’s world championship, February 2 through 15, Adidas Arena in Paris. A 3 million dollar prize pool sets it as the high point of the R6 year, a purse serious enough to reel in the best teams on the planet, all of them there to settle one question a season: who is genuinely best at this game. On the sporting side it ran in a straight line. FaZe Clan, an all-Brazilian roster, beat Team Secret 3-1 in the final and grabbed a second world title running, after Boston in 2025.

The number worth actually stopping on is a different one, though. The team people watched most was not the team that won. Team Secret finished as the most watched roster of the event, north of 80,000 average viewers, ahead of FaZe Clan themselves at 78,800 and G2 Esports at 77,700. The biggest peak of any match, FaZe against Team Secret, came in a shade over 264,000 watching at the same moment.

Crowds do this constantly. They pool around a small handful of contenders and won’t just flip over to whoever ends up winning. Building a story with a regional fanbase, giving the tournament run some genuine depth, keeping a foot in several broadcast regions at once, all of it weighs every bit as much as the final scoreline, and now and then more. For anyone whose job is measuring the commercial side of esports, that is a signal you don’t get to ignore. A roster’s market value and the trophies in its cabinet are not the same thing. The attention, you build that across a whole season.
