Privacy Notice
This notice explains how Independent Electronic Sports Sàrl processes personal data on this website. Last updated July 2026.
1Who we are and how to contact us
1.1. This privacy notice explains how Independent Electronic Sports Sàrl (“IES”, “we”, “us”, “our”) processes personal data when you use the website independent-esports.com (the “Site”). IES is the data controller for this processing.
1.2. Registered address: Independent Electronic Sports Sàrl, c/o Roux & Associés SA, Espace des Remparts 10, CH-1950 Sion, Switzerland.
1.3. For any privacy matter you can contact us at privacy@independent-esports.com.
1.4. We process personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP/FADP) and, for visitors in the European Economic Area, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2What data we process and why
2.1. Technical/server logs. When you visit the Site, our hosting provider records technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the date, time and pages of your visit, in order to deliver the Site securely and to detect and prevent abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in the security and operation of the Site.
2.2. Contact and request forms. If you use a contact or request form, we process the information you provide (for example your name, email address, company and message) in order to respond to your enquiry. Legal basis: steps taken at your request and/or your consent. Form submissions are checked for spam (see section 4).
2.3. Cookies. See section 3.
2.4. We do not run web analytics, advertising, social-media pixels, remarketing or profiling on this Site, and we do not sell personal data. The Site is not directed to children; we do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.
3Cookies and consent
3.1. Cookies are small files stored on your device by your browser. When you first visit the Site, a banner lets you accept all optional cookies, reject them, or choose by category. Strictly necessary cookies are always active; all optional cookies remain off until you enable them. You can change your choice at any time via Cookie settings.
3.2. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. The cookies used are the following.
Strictly necessary (always active):
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
ies_consent | This website | Stores your cookie preferences. | 180 days |
_icl_current_language | WPML | Remembers the language you selected (set once the multilingual feature is enabled). | 1 day |
wordpress_*, wp-settings-* | WordPress | Set only when you sign in to the Site; not used for public visitors. | Session – 1 year |
Media & embeds (optional — off by default):
| Cookie / service | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Infomaniak VOD player | Infomaniak (Switzerland) | Plays embedded videos and remembers playback settings. Loaded only on pages with a video, and only after your consent. | Session – 1 year |
3.3. Our theme and core plugin do not set cookies of their own. The other components in use (anti-spam, security, caching, HTTPS redirection and editorial tools) do not set tracking cookies for public visitors, and several operate only in the administration area.
4Third-party services and recipients
4.1. We rely on a small number of service providers. They process data on our behalf under contract, or provide a specific function of the Site:
- Infomaniak (Switzerland) — website hosting and video-on-demand (VOD) delivery. Data is processed in Switzerland.
- Akismet / Automattic (USA) — anti-spam. When you submit a form, the submission may be checked against the Akismet service, which can involve a transfer to the United States under appropriate safeguards. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in preventing spam and abuse.
- Google Fonts (Google, USA) — the Site currently loads web fonts from Google’s servers, which transmits your IP address to Google. Google Fonts does not set cookies. We intend to self-host these fonts so that this transfer no longer takes place.
- WPML — multilingual functionality (once enabled); the language preference is handled on our own server.
4.2. We do not use web-analytics services (such as Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager), advertising or social-media pixels, remarketing networks, newsletter/CRM platforms or online payment processors on this Site. We do not sell your personal data.
5International data transfers
5.1. Where a service provider is located outside Switzerland or the European Economic Area (for example in the United States, as with Automattic/Akismet and Google), we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses and the providers’ own compliance frameworks to protect your data.
6How long we keep data
6.1. We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above or as required by law. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and operational purposes (generally no longer than twelve months). Information submitted through forms is kept for as long as needed to handle your request and any follow-up, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
7Data security
7.1. We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encrypted transport (HTTPS) and security hardening of the Site — to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8Your rights
8.1. Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time — including by changing your cookie choices via Cookie settings — without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
8.2. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@independent-esports.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
8.3. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Switzerland this is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), www.edoeb.admin.ch; in the EEA, your local data protection authority.
9Changes to this notice
9.1. We may update this notice to reflect changes to the Site or to the law. The current version published on this page applies, and the “last updated” date shown above indicates when it last changed.
